Principle architect of web and database services for the department, as well as deployment and maintenance of software and servers.
Primary developer of web-based administration and automation tools.
Implemented database solution for web services back-ends, and for general
faculty and student use.
Developed user-managed, remote-access CVS server for department use.

Responsible for the day-to-day operation of the various servers which
comprised the ISP, including 24x7 on-call support.
Primary areas of responsibility were WWW, FTP and caching-related services,
as well as databases and backups.
Responsible for the evaluation of new products.
Received President's Award, 1st Quarter, 1997 for outstanding work related
to restoring service after a catastrophic outage.
From Aug to Dec 1998, shifted gears to become a consultant to the Internet
Operations group. This entailed less day-to-day administration and more
review, design and implementation, with an emphasis on system design.

A start-up specializing in organizing and presenting client information
tailored to specific needs, usually web-based.
Primarily concerned with researching new technologies, web and database
design, I was one of three principles which founded the company.
Work focused on the then-fledgling World Wide Web, educational multimedia,
custom programming, and database design for clients, including Bell Canada
and Northern Telecom.

A combination of full-time co-op work terms and part-time contracts while
an undergraduate student, this job included many aspects of computing in an
academic environment.
Initially doing PC support and Novell LAN administration, I was made
responsible for 6 HP UNIX machines, including support and troubleshooting.
Other aspects of the job included programming in C and PERL for system
admin tasks, hardware maintenance, updates to the various servers (WWW, FTP,
etc), as well as web document creation.
As a result of running the first public web server on campus, I was
appointed to the University's WWW Steering Committee, was one of the
University's first webmasters, and designed the first home page.
